Golf Putting Tip - Head Alignment

Proper head alignment is required to ensure that your golf ball follows the line that you have decided for your putt. What is meant is that your eyes are aligned over the ball and line of putt. If they are not then you will have a tendency to miss the putt left or right.

You could put a mirror on the ground to determine this during practice, which is probably the most accurate, but you could also use your putter to determine if your eyes are over the ball. With two fingers holding the putter at the end of the grip, just place the end of the putter between your eyes. Closing one eye, sight down along the shaft of the putter. If your ball is located on this line of sight, then your head is positioned correctly. This method is not as accurate as a mirror but can be used to check your alignment when you are on the course.

If you have putted for a long time without a proper head alignment it will take some time practicing before it will become a natural feeling. But using this golf putting tip will make the extra time you spend in practice payoff with more consistent putts.

Golf Putting Tip - Putter Alignment

Before you putt the golf ball it is very important to have your putter aligned properly to the hole. The putter swing should also stay along the line of the putt. Here is a simple golf putting tip that will allow you to learn this.

The easiest and cheapest way is to use two other golf clubs and a square. Place the two clubs on the ground with the shafts parallel to each other and use the length of your putter head for the distance between the clubs. Now practice your putting swing between these two clubs. By doing this you will learn to have a proper putting swing towards your target.

This should also bring the putter face close to proper alignment by being perpendicular to your target. But to make sure use your square by laying it on the ground and aligning it to one of the club shafts that your are using for guidance in your putting swing. Make sure the perpendicular edge, that is the edge that is ninety degrees to your club shafts, lies between your two club shafts. Now when you practice your putting first align your putter so that it is lined up with the edge of your square and then practice your putting stroke between the two clubs.

By practicing using this method you will train yourself to have proper putter alignment and a proper putter swing towards the target.

Putting Tip - Adjusting For Putting Surfaces

Most of us practice our putting in the comfort of our own home and usually on carpet. However, you will find that your benchmark putting distances that you practice will be different when you putt on a real course green. Therefore it is important to use the practice putting greens before you start a round of golf.

On the practice putting green use about three balls and step off your benchmark distance, start with your five-foot distance, and putt the three balls with your benchmark putt. The difference from where your balls end up compared to the distance you stepped off is the amount you will need to adjust to these particular greens. Make the required adjustment with your putting swing to consistently hit your bench mark distance and remember the amount of adjustment required to do so. Then when you play your round of golf use this adjustment to all your benchmark putts and you should be consistent with your distance on the greens.

If you have the time you can repeat this process at your other benchmark distances to ensure that the required adjustment, to your benchmark putting swing, is correct.

By using these simple putting tips you should be able to make the fine adjustments required for any course you play regardless of the types of grass used or whether the greens are hard or soft.

Golf Gift Idea - A Golf e-Book

Most people give golf balls, tees, golf gloves, etc. as golf gifts. Even though these are excellent gifts they are only short term. What I mean is that after they have been used they are forgotten. If you would like to give something that will be more memorable consider a golf e-book.

A golf e-book will improve their golf game and help lower their overall score. They will not only remember this gift for a long time, every time they have a good round of golf, but will also have more fun when they play.

So consider a golf e-book next time you are trying to decide on what to give that golf fanatic in your life. They will thank you for this unique and thoughtful golf gift.

Putting Tip - Judging The Distance To The Hole Pt.2

Now that you have a method to determine the distance from the ball to the hole, the next step is to develop benchmark putts. This is very simple but takes time to practice. Use a tape measure and lay out a distance of five feet. Practice and practice until you can consistently make this putt. Then do the same at say ten, fifteen, and twenty feet.

For each of the benchmark distances you will have a different length of back swing. Knowing this you should be able to make slight adjustments for distances that are between your benchmark putts. So when you determine the actual distance to the hole you should know how hard to stroke the putt.

This simple putting tip should help you to become more accurate and consistent in your golf putting.

Putting Tip - Judging The Distance To The Hole

One of the major problems the average golfer has on the putting greens is to judge the correct distance to the hole. Without knowing the actual distance, they can only guess at how hard to strike the ball.

One of the easiest methods is to walk the distance from the ball to the hole, but first you have to determine your walking stride. A simple method to find this out is to place a tape measure on the floor and take four or five steps. Make sure you use your normal stride and then measure the distance you’ve covered. Just take the distance that you covered and divide it by the number of steps and you will have the distance per step taken. Then you can step off the distance form the ball to the hole on the greens.

Learn to judge the actual distance to the hole by just using your eyesight with these putting tips
